This week, the European Alpine Snowboard Cup took place on Tomba in Bansko. Ninety-one snowboarders from 18 countries came to Bansko to participate in the competition, including 15 Bulgarian men and 8 Bulgarian women.

On the second day of the competition, Malena Zamfirova from Yulen Ski Club in Bansko won Bronze in the small final. Celebrating coming second in the competition the previous day, she remarked that she should have come first overall.

All of the winners of the men’s and women’s parallel slaloms on the final day of racing were awarded prizes by the deputy mayor of Bansko (Magdalena Yuseva), the Vice President of the Bulgarian Ski Federation (Georgi Bobev), and the Executive Director of Yulen (Maya Hristoskova). Read more about the competition and winners here.

Now we’ve got the Gondola queue “competitions” in February to look forward to. 😁

Before You Go…

We’re on issue 27 for the Bansko Buzz. That means the Bansko Buzz has been delivered every week to subscribers’ email inboxes for 6 months! 🎉 Some weeks it’s been a challenge to get the email researched, written, and sent by the 9pm deadline though 😂

Next week, I’ll be bringing you information about Victoria Restaurant’s new place in Bansko: Alpen — the new Italian that opened up where Casa di Papi was (near Bansko Royal Towers, Wakeup Coffee, etc). The menu looks well done, the staff wear proper uniforms, and the place has a pleasant feel. I’m off there tonight to celebrate six months of the Bansko Buzz. 😁
