On Your Marks... Get Set...

Bansko Buzz, Issue #1

GO!

On Saturday, Bansko Street Dogs celebrated their annual school sports day on the ski road in Bansko. There was lots of rivalry, fun, laughter, and raising funds for a good cause. Some people also sang and danced later at 4Directions with the DJ taxi: a pretty great day/night out had by all.

Follow their Facebook page for details about how much they raised and for photos of the event.

Friday Spotlight: New Coffee World

Located on Gotse Delchev Street

Another coffee shop: just what Bansko needed! 🙃

Jokes aside, the coffee here is actually pretty good (which can’t be said of all places serving coffee in town). The place looks clean and fresh, the staff are friendly, and the service is good.

If you get the chance to visit, they have a range of hot & cold drinks (and plant-based milk), gelato, cakes, and beer; open 8am-8pm every day. See the full write-up here.

Events Coming Up

Jazz Festival

The annual jazz festival is coming back to Bansko this Saturday and is very popular with both locals and tourists. The full program for the event is here (their official FB page is here), and includes 135 artists from 18 countries who will perform on the main stage in the square and on other stages in the downtown area including the park (young & upcoming jazz musicians usually perform in the park). Their website (with more information about the artists) is here.

If you’d rather reserve a seat than stand and watch, tickets can be purchased here.

It will run from Saturday 3rd to Saturday 10th inclusive.

Raga Dugada

A new festival for this year with some known local DJs such as Dylan Kay and Silent Citizen. It will take place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th of August inclusive, and will be at the White Stage on the road to Banya (near to Piri Pool here). The lineup is set to run from 6pm to just after 4am on all days.

They’re offering people the ability to camp at the venue for free, and are also putting on free shuttles from Bansko town. There will also be a children’s playground, bicycles for rent, and other activities (including hot air balloon rides). There are 600 seats available (a total capacity of 5,000) and with the jazz fest also happening in Bansko it will probably be an event to go to.

For the line up see this page and for tickets see this page.

There will also be other events put on by businesses or individuals in Bansko who will share them in the group here.
