Last Call for Autumn Hikes

Explore Bansko’s Beauty Before Winter Settles In
You can tell the mountains around Bansko are getting ready for winter.
Today, I took a hike up to Baikushev's Pine, which is just down from Vihren Hut. It was a beautiful day with clear skies and a warm sun. The mountains and hills around Bansko looked terrific, and it was also good to see individuals training for the biathlon around Banderitsa Polyana.
Still some frost in shaded areas around lunchtime
And, because I was up that way it would’ve been rude not to stop and grab some lunch at Baykusheva Mura Restaurant and eat some Banski Sudjuk and the Baykusheva salad (the sheep cheese on it is amazing).
There are only 2-3 weeks worth of hiking left in Bansko before it becomes a little too cold for a good hike, so if you’re in town then consider heading up there. Baykusheva Mura Restaurant will be open for the next 2-3 weeks (open every day) too: you can see the Friday Spotlight I did there at the end of June.
The bus that runs four times a day from town upto Vihren Hut will run until 31 October (I saw it pass today, so it’s definitely running) if you don’t have a car and would rather catch the bus.

Where’s the best place in Bansko to buy winter tyres?
Oscar is on the hunt for winter tyres. There were a few suggestions. I’m not quite sure I’d stretch to used winter tyres though, even if my budget was low: I saw a few drivers fishtailing on the ring road last year after some heavy snow (including me! 🤣).
Here’s the best place in Bansko for coffee
There was a poll a few weeks back about the best coffee place in Bansko. The results are interesting and roughly turned out the way I expected.
Wait a minute… my car got clamped?
Gerrit is wondering why his car got clamped near Euphoria. I guess he’s been out of town for a while and doesn’t realise parking enforcement is all year round now. 🤦
Fish and rice… makes all things nice (let’s get sushi!)
Iliyana is looking for a local place that does sushi. A few people had some suggestions.
The middle of Lidl song
Jay posted a video about the middle isle of Lidl. Kinda weird but worth watching. Chateauneuf-du-Lidl? That would be interesting…
