Parliamentary elections in Bulgaria today

This week, the municipality shared some photos on social media of trash strewn across playgrounds and sports areas in town. Understandably, the municipality spends quite a bit on cleaning and maintaining public areas.
The trash had supposedly been thrown on the floor or just discarded, and that this is common place every morning (not just a here-and-there issue).
Some commenters said that most of the trash was down to young people: hanging out in these areas and leaving everything behind. That would make sense given the number of different groups hanging out in these areas at night (similar to other countries), but is it just these individuals, or is there a wider problem?
There have been a few posts in Facebook groups about trash being left in different parts of town, like this one. So, does that mean this is a general issue that needs addressing? It seems to look that way. It’ll be interesting to see what promotional material the municipality does to encourage people of all ages to be conscious of trash in the town.
But… check out this week’s events section if you’re in town at the weekend: Bansko Tidy Tribe already has an event planned for Saturday.

Before You Go…
A really sunny week this week in Bansko 💪
There are still a few people in town (who don’t live here year-round), but it has looked lovely and quiet on some days/evenings.
The parliamentary election was today in Bulgaria, so over the next few days we should see what’s happening and whether one party will be able to form a government. Exit polls suggest Rumen Radev’s party (former president of Bulgaria) will win the most votes.
Many more people were arrested this week for allegedly trying to buy votes, so hopefully the election will be seen as fairer than past ones.
