Bansko Reminds Skiers and Snowboarders To Check Their Level of Ability Before Heading Down The Slopes

Ahead of the busiest part of the winter season (from now until 10 March), Ulen, operator of the ski resort in Bansko, has reminded individuals headed up the mountain to look at the different slopes and assess their abilities.
During busier periods as we have now, people who ski or board only a few days of the year might want to advance too fast and be hell-bent on taking a slope that is far beyond their abilities. The ski operator is encouraging them not to.
There are plenty of ski instructors in Bansko can help improve one’s skills. If you’re a snowboarder, Totem Ski School is probably best, and if you’re a skier, Method Ski School or Tsakiris Ski School are good choices.
Reminder: If you or anyone else gets into serious trouble on the mountain, call 112. They will direct mountain rescue to your location should you need assistance. The local mountain rescue in Bansko mainly comprises volunteers who will respond to calls anytime and in any condition. If you’re a mountain goer, feel free to head over to their website and send them a donation.

Before You Go…
Snow and a cold snap are on the way.
As is typical this time of year, some more snow and minus temperatures are coming to town. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like it will be -18°C at night like it was a couple of years ago, but it will still get to around -10°C at night, so that heating will come in handy.
If you heat your home in Bansko with electric heaters or AC, your electricity bills might have increased recently. That’s because the residential rate for electricity went up in January by 9%.
While it isn’t an extortionate amount, and other countries have eye-watering residential electricity and gas prices, it’s still a sizable amount, considering the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission is monitoring and regulating the increase of prices until the end of June this year.
